The best part of waking up is no longer Folgers in my cup.
(See what I did there? ;))
Actually, I don’t drink Folgers brand coffee. However, recently, I’ve been finding my normal morning coffee definitely unsatisfying. The french vanilla creamer just doesn’t do it for me, I’ve gotta say.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the time (or the money) to stop by Starbucks every morning to grab my favorite latte. Sometimes, I don’t even have time to brew a new pot of coffee, and have to suffer through stale, two-day-old coffee with my breakfast. Not exactly something to look forward to in the morning.
So today I decided to create a recipe for coffee that I could make as a well-deserved treat on those Monday mornings when I barely have time to breath. While this recipe is definitely more of a treat, there’s no harm done in enjoying it every once in a while!
In fact, this Latte is made with all natural ingredients, meaning that even when you’re “cheating,” you’re not really “cheating” after all! Not to mention, it tastes even yummier than the classic Starbucks Gingerbread Latte, because the natural spices used create a bold flavor not attained by simply adding sugary syrup.
In my opinion, this latte tastes more like Gingerbread cookies than the Starbucks drink ever has.
If that’s not the best part of waking up, I don’t know what is! š
Skinny Gingerbread Latte
- 1 1/2 c milk of choice (I used coconut milk)
- 1/2 c coffee
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp ginger
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbs agave
- 1 tsp molasses
Pour milk into a saucepan and heat on medium-high until it begins to boil. Reduce heat to medium and allow to foam up. Meanwhile, add remaining ingredients to a coffee cup and stir until fully combined. Pour foamed milk into coffee cup and mix with a spoon until combined. Top with low-fat whipped cream, chopped dark chocolate, or additional spices. Enjoy!
