Birthday Cake Protein Milkshake

This post was originally supposed to go up on my birthday (last Thursday).

However, it was my 18th birthday. So, I got a little distracted and didn’t actually end up posting it!

Additionally, last weekend I visited one of my top colleges! Meaning, I spent the second half of my birthday driving up to DC to stay with my aunt and uncle for the night, as they literally live only 15 minutes walking distance from the college. It’s safe to say my weekend was packed… And as a result, this post did not go up on time.

In short, please forgive me! But you know what they say, good things come to those who wait! And believe me when I tell you this milkshake is definitely good… and good for you too!

This birthday cake milkshake actually doesn’t contain any dairy, which many of my milkshakes don’t, so it’s perfect for even your most lactose-intolerant friends! Instead, it’s made with frozen banana, which gives it a super creamy and decadent consistency, and vanilla protein powder, which adds impressive macros plus thickens the milkshake up nicely. Additionally, I chose to include almost extract in the recipe because many of my favorite cakes and cookies are made using it, so whenever I now thing “birthday cake” my mind goes straight to the sweet almond undertone this milkshake boasts!

And come on, it’s not a birthday cake without sprinkles! So, of course, I had to stir a few into my milkshake!

I don’t know how it is for you, but for me, sprinkles make everything taste exponentially better, and feel much more festive! So, whenever I can include them in a recipe, no matter that they’re maybe not the healthiest of toppings, I do.

And hey, it’s my birthday! I think I can do what I want today of all days! 😉
