Overnight Oats in a Nut Butter Jar

What do you do with your empty nut butter jars?

Or should I say mostly empty nut butter jars? Because I think we both know it’s practically impossible to scrape every last bit of the nut butter out of the jar with a spoon.

Most people will probably answer “throw them away” – unfortunately, this is exactly the answer an avid-nut-butter-lover such as myself does not want to hear. And after trying this recipe, trust me when I tell you that you too will feel my pain.

In my experience (and trust me, I’ve had a lot of experience when it comes to empty nut butter jars) the only surefire way to completely enjoy all of the peanut butter or almond butter in the jar is by making overnight oats. Using the jar.

This is seriously the best thing ever. First: it doesn’t require dirtying (and therefore cleaning any dishes). Because instead of using a mason jar or bowl to make your oats in, you’re enjoying them straight out of the jar. Second: the result of this recipe is the creamiest, most decadent overnight oats you could ever imagine. Third: this recipe takes practically no time to make.

All you do is add milk, oats, and a bit of sweetener to a jar and stir, making sure to scrape all that decadent nut butter off the sides of the jar. Then let sit in the refrigerator overnight, and in the morning prepare to enjoy. It’s that simple!

Oh, and this recipe is so yummy it’ll influence you to go through all your nut butter jars even faster. Meaning you get to eat more peanut butter and enjoy this recipe more often.

No, there’s really no bad side of this deal!

Overnight Oats in a Nut Butter Jar

  • 1/3 c old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 c milk of choice (I used unsweetened almond milk)
  • almost empty nut butter jar
  • sweetener to taste

Add old fashioned oats, milk, and sweetener to nut butter jar. Scrape remaining nut butter off sides of the jar and stir into oats. Stir everything until combined.
