Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day everyone!

Who’s your Valentine this year?
If you want to make a sweet, yet still healthy and guilt-free breakfast for your bae… look no further! This recipe is made with oats and whole wheat flour instead of the classic white flour. Plus, it doesn’t include any oils or processed sugars, and is actually a much better breakfast option than a highly processed, high sugar cereal, donut, or other tempting Valentine’s sweet!
Plus, why indulge too much on expensive Valentine’s day chocolate or high calorie desserts/breakfasts when you could get so much more out of waiting til February 15th?
… When all the uneaten chocolate goes on sale!
If you’re like me, and unfortunately don’t have a Valentine this year, then don’t fret! This recipe is so healthy you can even eat the whole thing yourself! 😉
(Cough what I did when I got home from the gym today)
If you really want to treat yourself, feel free to add dark chocolate chips to the pancake batter, or even top them with syrup and shredded coconut! Because this Valentine’s day, why don’t we all show our bodies some love… with a guilt-free recipe and chocolate.

So happy Valentine’s Day! And don’t forget to treat yourself, maybe even be your own Valentine? #thesinglelife
Sweetheart Valentine’s Day Pancakes
- 3/4 c old fashioned oats
- 1/4 c whole wheat flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 2 egg whites
- 1/3 banana
- 3 tbs unsweetened applesauce
- 1/3 c almond milk (or other milk of choice)
- 2 tsp honey
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- bananas, chocolate chips, strawberries, coconut, or other desired toppings
Add all ingredients to a blender or NutriBullet. Blend for 20-30 seconds, or until fully combined. Let sit for 30 seconds. Meanwhile, heat a griddle or skillet on medium-high heat. Grease. Pour pancake batter onto the skillet in small heart shapes (they will expand- I started by making a long oval, then adding a circle to one side of it to make the heart shape). Add banana slices, chocolate chips, strawberry slices, or other desired toppings. When sides begin to bubble, flip over. Let cook for another 30 seconds on medium. Remove, top with syrup, additional chocolate chips, strawberries, coconut, or other toppings of choice! Enjoy!
